Rowland Reserve in Bayview is probably the best dog friendly beach / dog park in Sydney!
It has a large green area to run and play with drinking water in the middle. The beach itself offers plenty of space to run, chase and wrestle. Water access is great and you can easily join your pup for a swim. During the weekend dog washing services are available in the park.
Drive (or swim?) to the dog friendly pub Newport across the water for a relaxing drink 🙂

Our favourite dog beach in the Northern Beaches – sheltered and far from carpark (the beach is separated by a park), calm waters, and lots of space to run!
We love this park and beach! There are lots of big and small dogs; some who love the water and some who prefer the park, some who love their ball and some who want to play with their friends. It gets really busy though!
I love visiting this doggie beach! I go once or twice a week to run on the big grass field and wade in the water ???? I prefer to go during the week when it’s quieter as the weekends can get very busy with large confident dogs (I can get a little bit nervous of high energy dogs). ????
Had my first swim here today! I was very wary of some of the other dogs because they are really confident and I’m not! Wouldn’t be a good place for a nervous biter! So much space to run around though! And a grassy area too ???? Make sure your human keeps an eye on the others that are playing with you, some dogs can get overly friendly ????
All the makings of an excellent dog swimming area, but is suffering from over-use. The grassy area is a good size but is very worn and compacted in places and this is where the bindiis take hold. Generally OK for the dogs here, if smashing about with lots and lots of company is what’s wanted. But if you’re looking for a place for the family with dog to have a picnic together, this is not up to scratch. There is obviously more demand for this kind of place than Council is currently providing.
Simply amazing doggie beach! Large grass area to play chase, beach fits loads of dogs and yet doesn’t feel crowded and great for swimming (even my dad joined me for a swim)! Drinks at the Newport across the water were nice as well.
