13 Best Dog Friendly Bars, Cafes, Walks and Beaches in Semaphore & Largs Bay

Make more tails wag & share:

The northwest suburb of Adelaide, Semaphore, sits on the Gulf of St Vincent’s coastline, approximately 14 kilometres from the city centre. The residential coast suburb is a popular destination for tourists wanting to bask in the sun, with many dog-friendly bars, cafes and eateries around the suburb. Two kilometres North of Semaphore, Largs Bay, hugs the Lefevre Peninsula, and although it is relatively close to Semaphore, it sees less foot traffic. But don’t let that deter you, as it offers the same as its neighbouring suburb, but provides more tranquillity for you and your pooch to enjoy.

We decided to fetch the best dog friendly parks, walks, bars and cafes for you to explore in these two coastal suburbs of Adelaide!

Dog-friendly parks and beaches

1. Semapaw Park

Semaphore Park Reserve

A must-visit for you and your best friend!! If the title isn’t a dead give-away, this is a park built for dogs. With artificial tunnels and poles littered around the park, you could mistake the park for a training ground for dogs. However, it is open to everyone and their pup to roam free and traverse the dog playground.

2. Port Adelaide Foreshore

Daylight Saving (October to March)
Between 10am and 8pm dogs must be on a chain, cord or leash at all times, not exceeding 2 metres in length.
Between 8pm and 10am dogs must be under effective control by voice command and in close proximity to their owners at all times;

Non Daylight Saving (April to September)
Dogs must be under effective control by voice command and in close proximity to their owners at all times.

3. Foreshore from Semaphore Park to West Beach

Dogs must be on lead (2 metres or less) on the foreshore (Semaphore Park to West Beach) between 10am and 8pm during daylight savings period (approximately October to April).

Please remember extendable leads are not suitable – not only do they promote your dog pulling and are dangerous they also do not comply with the 2m lead length requirement.

Outside of those times, dogs may be off lead on the foreshore if they are under effective control.
