The boardwalk is fantastic, great views over the mangroves. The beach at the end is amazing.

So good we came back!
This time we accessed the beach from the Southern end at Hungry Head. There are a couple of flights of steps down to the beach, no fresh water though (that I could see), but there are facilities/toilets at the nearby SLSC

This is my girl & my favourite dog park/swimming area. It is a nice calm river with fantastic access to the water all round. There is also only 1 way in or out of the park…. unless you swim across the river, which is helpful if your dog isn’t great at coming when told! So far I can’t find a better spot.

Huge beach with rough sea. We had it all to ourselves although it has 4wd access and there are car tracks along it. Access is via small car park at end of Cockburn St and about 100m track. There are freshwater showers and dog bowls at the carpark which is a bonus

Dog Friendly Beach off lead area is from Swimming Creek beach access northwards to the walk bridge access to the beach from the public reserve adjoining Valla Park Resort

Bit tricky to find, we parked near the Tasman Holiday Parks caravan park. Not sure if that’s where you’re meant to park, but there is a track to the beach from there (don’t dally on the track as there are lots of mozzies!)
Beach is huge and absolutely beautiful.
We met about half a dozen other dog walkers there, so not too busy but not deserted either
