Penrith offers several spectacular dog friendly walks, bars and cafes to visit. There is plenty of choices for dining and a few great fenced off leash dog parks. Most recently, Penrith has started to establish its name as Western Sydney’s Craft Beer capital and the best part is, most of the breweries welcome your dog to visit as well.

But before you start exploring one of the amazing dog friendly places in and around Penrith, why don’t you begin your journey by getting your good boys and girls a treat or a new ball to play with.

PetO is an Australian owned family business run by locals since opening in 2007. They are all crazy about pets and just love it when the customers bring their furry friends to help them shop.

1. Jamison Park Dog Park

Cnr Racecourse Road & Smith Street, South Penrith

24h off leash area in the cnr of Racecourse Road and Smith Street in South Penrith. Features include fenced park for dogs of all sizes, bench seating, two picnic tables with shelter, dog bag waste dispensers, bin, water tap and bowl and dog play equipment!

2. Emu Heights Dog Park

Wedmore Road, Emu Heights

24h off leash dog park at Wedmore Road, Emu Heights. Facilities include fenced off-leash dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs, dogs who respond to voice control are also permitted off-leash in the unfenced surrounding reserve bench seating, dog-friendly drinking fountains, dog waste bag dispensers and dog play equipment.

3. Werrington Dog Park

Cnr Victoria Street & Cottage Street, Werrington

24h off leash area on the cnr of Victoria Street and Cottage Street in Werrington. Unfenced off-leash dog area catering to dogs of all sizes with benches for their human parents.

4. Soling Crescent Dog Park

Cnr Soling Crescent & Corsair Crescent, Cranebrook

24h off leash dog park in Cranebrook featuring fenced off-leash dog park for dogs of all sizes, bench seating, picnic table, water tap and buckets, dog waste bag dispensers, bins and dog play equipment.

5. Knapsack Reserve

Mitchells Pass, Glenbrook

Dog Friendly Knapsack Reserve, located at the foot of the Blue Mountains, is a historical site of the Lapstone Zig Zag Railway built in 1867 as part of the train line from Penrith to Wentworth Falls. The reserve also boasts the historical sandstone Knapsack Viaduct (Bridge) and Lennox Bridge as well as a memorial to John Whitton the engineer-chief appointed to build the railway. The Lennox Bridge is the “oldest surviving stone arch bridge” on mainland Australia.

The reserve is a maze of walking trails with multiple entry points. The walks are dog friendly on a leash, while the walks are lovely they have more a historical focus than one of bushwalking and are well maintained and easy to follow.

6. Glenbrook Lagoon Circuit

Glenbrook Road, Glenbrook

Glenbrook Lagoon is a unique natural wetland habitat. It is fed by Lapstone Creek and was historically used to cool steam train engines in the early 1800’s. It is now a haven for local bird life, turtles and fish. Dogs are welcome on lead.

7. Bluff Reserve

Emu Road, Lapstone

Bluff Reserve is also significant to the rail history of the Blue Mountains. Dog friendly walking tracks within the reserve follow the original tramways temporarily used while the railway was being built in the early 20th century. The bluff overlooks Glenbrook Gorge where the train line starts its journey up the mountains and the Glenbrook Train Tunnel. There is also some great views of the valley and of the Penrith area.

9. Squinters Brewing

Squinters is a dog friendly brewery in the fast growing brewing neighbourhood in Penrith. Dogs are welcome to join you anywhere for a drink or two.

10. Casey’s Brewery

53 Regentville Road, Jamisontown

Dog friendly brewery with a great selection of beers. Dogs are welcome everywhere to join you for a drink.

Great dog friendly venue to come and relax with a refreshing drink or two. Dogs are welcome to join you anywhere at the Drink West Brewery.

13. The Coffee Club

The Coffee Club is a dog friendly cafe in Penrith serving brekkie, lunch and dinner. They have a partly shaded dog friendly outdoor seating area at the front.
