THE EXPERIENCE
Royal Park is a 24 dog park in the City of Melbourne
The City of Melbourne requires dogs to be leashed in all public areas of the municipality unless you are in a designated off-leash area in a park.
Off-leash areas
There are 38 acres of designated off-leash park land to exercise dogs in the City of Melbourne,
find them all on Pupsy
Effective voice or hand control
When a dog is being exercised off-leash, you must carry a chain, cord or leash to be able to bring a dog under control. Dogs must be under effective voice or hand control, which means you are able to promptly place the dog on a chain, cord or leash not exceeding three metres in length if that becomes necessary.
Dogs must not be allowed to worry or threaten a person or animal, and be within constant sight when in off-leash areas.
Cleaning up after your dog
You are required to clean up and dispose of your dog’s droppings in all public areas. It is your responsibility to ensure you always carry a poo bag or other item to collect and remove your dog’s droppings. Poo bags and bins are installed in some parks and gardens in both on-leash and off-leash areas to assist in the removal of dog droppings.
Leash requirements
Dogs must be kept under control by means of a chain, cord or leash, which is no more than three metres in length.
,b>Playgrounds and barbeque areas
Dogs must be on a leash if they are within 20 metres of a children’s playground or a permanent barbeque and picnic area.
Water features
Dogs must remain on a leash near fountains, ponds and lakes and not enter any body of water. They are prohibited from the entire precinct of Trin Warren Tam-boore, the recycling wetland in Royal Park.
