The Lazy Fig is perched on the headland in a quiet corner of this sleepy seaside location, with sweeping ocean and mountain views. The relaxed rear deck is north west facing so you can sit back, bathed in sunlight, while mesmerized by the changing sunsets over the snow-capped mountain. At certain times of year, you can even see whales and dolphins splashing in the sound, while you savour a glass of wine from one of the famous wineries, only a short drive from this dog friendly cottage.

The cosy two-bedroom dog friendly cottage was built in 1960 and for many years was a lovingly cared for beach shack for a Greek-Australian family. The Mediterranean vibe remains in the abundance of fruit trees in the right season, including figs, and apples, and the wood-fired oven that produces mouth-watering pizzas.

The new owner uses the cottage as a writer’s escape from the distractions of the world. There’s a small desk and office chair to put pen to paper or artists can sketch the changing views or the ripening figs in the peaceful garden.

There’s a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your favourite meals and comfortable beds from which the sounds of the lapping ocean will lull you to sleep.

To keep everyone entertained, The Lazy Fig has plentiful board games and a varied collection of books for all ages. There are beach towels, a beach umbrella, and backyard cricket to take down to the kid-friendly sands – only a leisurely stroll away or a few minutes by car. There is also a short track across the road that leads to an informal boat launch for small craft and kayaks.

We’re only half an hour drive from the spectacular Tasman Peninsula for all the outdoor activities there including long bushwalks, guided sea adventures, rock climbing, and mountain biking. The Hill Street grocer, only a 10-minute drive at Dodges Ferry, serves up gourmet takeaway meals for the nights you don’t feel like cooking, there’s an RSL and a small shop at Primrose Sands, or a few large supermarkets 20 minutes away in Sorell.

Primrose Sands is perfectly located only 30 minutes from the airport and a 45-minute scenic drive from the famous attractions of Hobart – meaning you’re away from it all but the city is there when you want it.
