Camperdown’s dog friendly pub / microbrewery par excellence is a perfect place to park oneself on a weekend afternoon. There are 12 taps showcasing the latest and greatest brews, food trucks turning out top-notch fast food and kids and dogs are welcome in the enormous Wayward Cellar Bar. Just make sure you keep a leash on them (the dogs, too).
The Wayward Brewery Cellar Bar was designed with dogs in mind. The founder and a dog lover Peter Philip wanted to create an inclusive atmosphere for everyone right from the beginning. This includes families as well as dog owners.
The Wayward Cellar bar, which seats up to 150 people, has been converted from a space that once housed Gehrig Wines nearly a century ago, with rooms converted from the wax-lined concrete wine vats that originally occupied the space. Dogs are allowed inside at the cellar bar and they even have a dedicated Wayward Wall of Fame to showcase the regular furry visitors.
Wayward is not afraid to go off the beaten track and hope that in doing so, they create something that people are excited to drink and share with friends and family. Their beer pays homage to the classic European styles while creating something with a distinctly Wayward twist. Traditional Camperdown 1 Pale Ale and Charmer India Pale Ale are companied with some more experimental brews such as Sourpuss Raspberry Berliner Weisse and IPA-Pilsner fusion Fusami India Pale Ale. Clean and crisp H2O supply is always available for the four legged visitors.
Brewery tours are available and once you have found your favourite brew, you can buy a Bottle, Squealer (0.95L) or a Growler (1.89L) to take with you and share with your friends.
Wayward staff and regulars love the furry visitors and your dog will be guaranteed to get some serious cuddling attention. They even have some doggie merchandise available such as collars with bottle opener!
