THE EXPERIENCE

Dog friendly The Australian Heritage Hotel is one of Sydney’s oldest pubs, located in The Rocks. We are very proud to support the Australian craft beer industry by only having Australian Beers in stock. We pride ourselves on an all Australian beer and wine selection. Pups are always welcome, come on down with your four-legged friends!  There’s plenty of space for them in our outdoor dining space or find a cosy spot inside in case of rain, wind or during colder days.  Make sure to stay in the loop with us for upcoming pooch parties and merch!

HISTORY
On 12th August 1824, The Sydney Gazette announced that the Australian Heritage Hotel was officially opened for business on George Street. When the plague hit Sydney in 1900, many buildings were pulled down to prevent further outbreaks, including the Australian Hotel. The license was then transferred to a new building located on the Archaeological site nearby at 116 Cumberland Street. 100 years on, the Australian Heritage Hotel remains, one of the most intact pubs in Sydney & locals favourite watering holes. The building is a unique, attractive and well preserved example of Edwardian style architecture with quality and taste present throughout the hotel, from the tiling through to the tap faucets. The Australian Heritage Hotel still has many of its pre-existing features, such as the metal awnings, etched signage and saloon style bar doors. The Hotel is listed on the State Heritage register and the Conservation and Heritage Register for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.

FOOD & DRINKS

There are plenty of craft beers available, as a matter of fact over 130 of them in total, all from Australian breweries. Menu has plenty of pub classics to choose from but the pizzas are specifically what The Aussie is known for.

WHAT’S ON

Sports, Trivia and Beer Club are just a few regular happenings at The Aussie. But most importantly, they host Dog Parties on a regular basis so make sure you stay tuned!
