The main beach runs for 1.8 km from the foreland through to a second curving foreland that terminates at the base of the 20 m high Dowcer Bluff. The Sheoak Flat settlement occupies 200 m of the central flats, wedged in between the road and shore. Both beaches receive low waves and are fronted by shallow sand flats and seagrass meadows.

Dogs are welcome off leash on all beaches in Yorke Peninsula (except in National Parks).
