Arboretum Track | Dog Friendly Hike in Narara
THE EXPERIENCE
The magnificent 2.3km Arboretum Track goes past some of the oldest and most beautiful trees on the Central Coast including 150-year-old Australian Red Cedars, Bunyas and Hoop Pines. The dog-friendly trail leads along some of the rainforest-clad creeks of Strickland State Forest, before crossing a small suspension bridge and looping through the arboretum.
Another brilliant walk from the same location is the Bellbird Trail. This is a great 3.3km loop walk to stretch your pups legs and view stunning scenery along the way. Passing through plenty of the Strickland rainforest, and among the tall tress of the arboretum, you are likely to have the sound of Bellbirds adding to the atmosphere along parts of this walk. There are a number of picturesque creek crossings along the way, one with a small suspension bridge.

Excellent walk. We started from the Banksia Picnic area, walked down to Stoney Creek parking area and took the Arboretum track. As it’s state forest Biscuit went off leash, didn’t leave the path, and waited for me when I took too long! The first section from Banksia Picnic area to Stoney Creek was quite steep, and would be terrible in the wet. From Stoney Creek parking you need to cross the creek on stepping stones, they’ll go under after heavy rain. From here on it was pretty flat, nice and wide with a few places for Biscuit to have a swim. We’ll definitely be back, not after rain though, and probably start and finish at Stoney Creek parking.
