THE EXPERIENCE

This dog friendly hike is a gradual return climb up to the Cook’s Knob fire tower. Start at the Amama day-use area and picnic ground off Amamoor Creek Road, and follow the multi-use trail north. The Amamoor State forest is known for its populations of the Bunya Pine, Red Cedar, Hoop Pine and White Cedar inside these dry forests and riverine rainforests, in addition to some of Queensland’s largest swimming holes known for various endangered species of frogs and platypus.
